Country Lodge

A full interior renovation bringing light, balance and renewed character to a much-loved family home

Location: Lincolnshire countryside
Property: Four-bedroom family home
Scope: Full internal cosmetic renovation
Focus: Light, balance and sympathetic modernisation

Country Lodge is a beautiful four-bedroom family home set within a generous wraparound garden, thoughtfully designed to support the rhythm of busy family life while celebrating the character of the house itself.

The project involved a full internal cosmetic renovation, carefully balancing contemporary updates with respect for the home’s original architecture. The brief was to create interiors that felt lighter, brighter and more cohesive, while maintaining the warmth and personality expected of a country family home.

Structural elements were thoughtfully reconsidered to enhance the sense of space. Selected ceiling beams were removed to introduce greater height and light, while others were retained to preserve character and architectural interest in key areas. Throughout the house, a carefully curated palette of Farrow & Ball colours was used to bring softness and depth, with richer tones introduced in the sitting room to create a more intimate, layered atmosphere.

The existing kitchen was refreshed rather than replaced, demonstrating a commitment to thoughtful reuse and reinvention. Cabinetry and joinery were enhanced with Richwood finishes, while previously underused space was transformed into a dedicated workspace, combining practicality with considered design.

Across the home, every light fitting, socket and switch was upgraded, introducing elegant metal finishes and a carefully planned lighting scheme. Victorian-style radiators were installed to complement the architectural character of the property, while new curtains and blinds throughout the house brought warmth, texture and cohesion to each room. The bathrooms were completely reimagined, including a new principal bathroom with his-and-hers basins, creating spaces that feel both functional and quietly luxurious.

Furniture was thoughtfully balanced between existing pieces and carefully selected new additions, allowing the home to retain its sense of history while evolving to meet the needs of its owners. Artwork was remounted and reframed to give each piece renewed presence within the redesigned interiors.

The result is a home that feels refreshed yet familiar, a considered transformation that honours the character of Country Lodge while creating a brighter, more harmonious space for modern family living.
